Our ABAT Exam Secrets study guide helps test takers prepare for the American Board of Applied Toxicology (ABAT) Certification Examination,
which is offered by the American Board of Applied Toxicology (ABAT) so that they can become a Diplomate of the American Board of Applied Toxicology (DABAT).

The ABAT Exam covers aspects of drugs and toxicology with a series of 125 questions. All questions in the exam are pulled from the following categories.
Over fifty percent of the questions fall into the first two categories.

* Drugs
* Chemicals
* Environmental/Occupational
* Theory
* Biologicals
* General

In order to take the ABAT Exam a person must meet the following criteria:

* Have a doctorate in the biomedical field, or a baccalaureate in health science. The latter candidates must also have at least five years of professional experience in their field of study.
* Those who apply will need some field experience with toxicology or a closely related field. Fellowship and those with residencies in the field of toxicology only need 12 months of experience,
while those with no doctoral training would need 3 full years experience in the field. Experience in the field of applied clinical toxicology can be everything from teaching students toxicology to researching the toxicology of public chemicals for a private enterprise.
If you have experience with toxicology then you will likely be initially considered.
* The American Academy of Clinical Toxicology looks for candidates to have a well rounded approach to clinical trials, research, and teaching. The Exam board looks for experienced leaders to be ideal candidates.
* The ABAT exam is only open for those inside licensed clinical professions, and the license must be up-to-date, valid, and the candidate in good standing with the licensing board.
* All candidates must also be members of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology society and within good standing.

All exam applications are reviewed by the Credentialing Committee to determine eligibility.
The exam costs $400 to apply. Those denied will receive a refund of $300. Once accepted the candidate must take the exam within two exam cycles or they must renew the application process.
