The ABCTE Exam is administered by the American Board for Certification of Teach Excellence (ABCDE). Successful completion of the ABCTE Exam enables the recipient of certification to teach in several states and be able to teach in private or charter schools in the remaining states.
Those receiving ABCTE certification will be eligible to teach in the following states:

* Oklahoma
The ABCTE Exam certification can be received for the following curriculum:
* Biology
* Chemistry
* English Language Arts
* General Science

* Multiple Subject Exam
* Physics
* Professional Teaching Knowledge
* Reading
* Special Education
* U.S. History
* World History
ABCTE certification exams are time based, with a typical allotment of 4 hours. The exam is composed of between 100 to 150 multiple choice questions.
The exam is administered online, through a web based site. The exam can be completed after finishing the ABCTE program. The program costs $975 and guides the student through a process that can take as long as one year to complete, but many students complete the certification process, including the exam, in six to ten months. Additional certification exams can be administered for $525.
The ABCTE certification is open to foreign educated applicants looking to become certified. Since the exam is web based and revolves around enrollment in the ABCDE program, an applicant can take their exam at the time they complete all the required steps.
