ANCC Study Guide Review

The ANCC Exam is sponsored by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and provides applicants with the necessary route to certified nurse status.

ANCC offers accreditation in dozens of nursing specialties, including Family Nurse Practitioners and Ambulatory Care.

Applicants need to meet the following eligibility requirements in order to take the ANCC Exam (may vary depending on specialty desired):

* Applicant must have a valid and current RN license in good standing with the licensing institution.
* Applicants will need the appropriate education level for the desired accreditation. Typically a Bachelor’s degree or graduate level experience.
* Applicant will need to prove a level of experience in the field of desired accreditation. For instance, Ambulatory Care Nurses need two years experience in Ambulatory care. The amount of time depends on the program and the particulars of the ANCC requirements.

ANCC Exams test an applicant’s understanding of governing laws, principles in practice, and biological knowledge related to the desired accreditation. Students should study before taking the exam and have a decent preparation period for material review, practice exams, and study sessions.
ANCC exam costs are reduced for ANCC members. The typical savings can be as much as $100 for certain accreditation exams.

ANCC accreditation is a widely accepted credential for registered nurses to prove their understanding of skills and knowledge related to the nursing industry. ANCC has set an industry standard with their accreditation programs.

Applicants can apply and take the test at any time within a 90 day window of time (after application acceptance). All accreditation tests are computer based and administered in a testing facility.
