ANCCT Study Guide Review

The Ambulatory Care Nursing Certification Test is offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a way to certify nurses in ambulatory care.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements in order to take the ACNC Exam:

* Applicant must have a current RN license in the US or an equivalent license in a foreign country.
* Have two full years experience as a registered nurse (RN).
* Over the last three years, accumulated 3,000 hours of ambulatory care.
* Have an accumulated 30 credit hours of ambulatory care education from an accredited institution.

Applicants will be tested for aptitude regarding several topics in the ambulatory care field. The following skills and assets should be understood and studied prior to taking the exam.

* Understanding clinical practice, including technical aspects, care management, triage, and patient rights.
* Quality communication skills including interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, telepractice, and documentation.
* Understanding of legal issues, which may include nurse’s professional role in the medical workplace, regulatory issues, and standards of care.
* Ability to perform basic duties on operations systems and work towards improving performance.
* Ability to educate staff, family members, and patients on diseases and injury prevention, as well as handle chronic conditions with sensitivity and understanding.

The Ambulatory Care Nursing Certification Test costs $270 for ANA members, while non-members need to pay $390. International applicants will need to pay an additional $125 to take the exam.

Applicants can apply for the exam anytime, but need to complete the exam in a 90 day period following application acceptance. The test is administered at a testing facility and is computer based.
