Cardiac Vascular Nurse Study Guide Review

The Cardiac Vascular Exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certifies individuals as Cardiac Vascular Nurses.

Those who wish to sit for the Cardiac Vascular Exam must first meet the following eligibility requirements:

* Candidates must have a current and valid RN license issued in the US or an equivalent legal document from a foreign country
* Candidates need to have accumulated two years of full time work experience as an RN
* Candidates must be able to verify at least 2,000 hours of cardiac vascular nursing experience within the past three years
* Candidates need at least 30 hours of continuing education coursework experience over the past three years

The Cardiac Vascular Exam costs $390 for non-ANCC-members and $350 for members. The certification needs to be renewed every five years at a cost of $200 for members and $270 for non-members.
Candidates can expect the test to cover the following areas of knowledge:

* Manifestation of Cardiac and Vascular Disease
* Communication skills
* Care Provisions
* Patient, Family, and Caregiver education
* Psychosocial Aspects of Cardiac-Vascular Disease
* Legal and Ethical Issues

The test is comprised of 175 multiple choice questions, of which 150 will be graded for accuracy. The remaining 25 questions are used for development of future exam content. The exam is administered at computer based testing centers located throughout the US. After an application has been accepted, candidates will receive written notification on how to schedule their exam.
