CCHT Study Guide Review

The CCHT Exam is offered by the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission to certified qualified candidates as Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technicians (CCHT).

Those who wish to take the CCHT Exam must first meet the following eligibility requirements set forth by the NNCC:

* Candidates must have either a high school diploma or 4 years of hemodialysis patient work experience
* Candidates must have completed a supervised clinical experience as well as a training program for hemodialysis patient care.
* All training care and work experience must be validated with a signature of a supervisor
* All candidates must have the required state level hemodialysis patient care experience. It’s the responsibility of the candidate to know the state’s requirements.

The CCHT exam is comprised of 150 multiple choice questions. The candidate has three hours to complete the test with a passing grade. The CCHT is administered at many testing centers throughout the US and is computer based. Applicants should review the deadline for application submission to ensure they can take the exam at a time when it is convenient.

The CCHT Exam breaks down into the following categories of emphasis:

* Clinical – 50%
* Technical – 23%
* Environment – 15%
* Role – 12%

Applicants will be graded on their knowledge, comprehension, and application of the aforementioned topics. The candidate must have at least 70% of the questions right in order to receive CCHT certification.
The CCHT exam costs $195 with a $50 late fee to those who register two weeks before the deadline. Recertification costs $75 and must be done every five years.
