The Certified Auto Glass Technician Test offered by the National Glass Association (NGA) qualifies successful candidates as Certified Auto Glass Technicians (CAGT).
In order to take the Certified Auto Glass Technician Test, candidates must first meet the eligibility requirements set by the NGA.
* The candidate must be employed in the auto glass repair business for at least six months prior to certification application.
After determining eligibility, the candidate must print, sign, and mail/fax an application to NGA with the determined registration fee. The fee pays for the administration and setup of the testing facility.
All CAGT exams are administered at LaserGrade testing centers. The testing centers are located nationwide and can be found nearly in every major city. Once a candidate has their application approved, they will be granted access to schedule their exam at a convenient location.
On the exam day, candidates should plan to arrive at least a half hour early. Each person should bring two forms of identification. The second form may be a credit card or social security card. If the candidate fails to pass the exam, they may retake it after waiting 30 days. Candidates need to achieve a 75 or better on the exam. Those who fail will receive a detailed report informing them of recommended topics to cover and other material needed to retest.
The CAGT certification lasts for three years. Once the time for renewal approaches, NGA will notify the candidate with further information on recertifying.
