The Certified Disability Management Specialist Exam offered by the Certification of Disability Management Specialists Commission (CDMSC) grants successful exam takers as a Certified Disability Management Specialist.
Applicants who wish to take the CDMS exam must first meet the following CDMSC eligibility requirements.
* Have obtained a bachelor’s degree in any field or have a current and valid RN license.
* Applicant must have at least one year of full time experience delivering care to disabled patients who benefit from the disability compensation system.
The CDMS Exam focuses on the following areas of study:
* Disability Case Management
* Disability Prevention and Workplace Intervention
* Program Development, Management, and Evaluation
The CDMS Exam is offered four times a year at different locations throughout the US. Applicants who have been approved by the CDMSC will receive information regarding test center locations and how to schedule the exam. They will have a window of time to do so, otherwise all fees will be forfeited.
The exam consists of 175 multiple choice questions. Of those 175, only 125 are used for scoring purposes. The remaining 50 questions are evaluation questions for further test development. The exam costs $385, and $175 for recertification. The recertification process needs to be complete every five years. Those who fail the exam the first time can pay $200 to take it again.
After the exam, applicants can expect to receive their test results in about four weeks. The candidate will receive their scores through the mail only.
