The Certified Manager Exam offered by the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM) grants those who successfully complete the exam as Certified Manager (CM).
To be eligible to sit for the CM Exam, an applicant must first meet the ICPM eligibility requirements.
The ICPM requires each candidate to have ten points of credit in a system they define. The credits are earned as follows:
* High school degree – 1 point
* High school degree plus one year of college – 2 points
* High school degree plus two years of college – 3 points
* High school degree plus three years of college – 4 points
* High school degree plus bachelor’s degree – 5 points
* High school degree plus graduate degree– 6 points
* For each 40 hours worked in management training add 1 point
* Certifications from other associations equals 1 point each (maximum of two credits)
* Full time work or military service in management or leadership role equals 1 point per year
* Full time work or military service in non-management role equals .5 points per year
* Part time work experience in management role equals .5 points per year
* Part time work experience in non-management role equals .25 points per year
The CM Exam has an international and US format. The US based exam contains 120 questions related to analytical skills, decision making skills, and real world application of management knowledge. The International course is similar to the US one, but only has 100 questions on the same subjects the US based one covers. Candidates are allotted two hours to complete the exam in its entirety.
Candidates will need to pay the ICPM a fee of $645 plus $20 shipping fees to take the three separate exams. If a person wants to buy the module study guides, those cost $230 each. International versions of the test can be applied for at a cost of $690 plus shipping and handling. Each international module version costs $250 each.
