The Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Certification Examination offered by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) qualifies successful candidates as Certified Management Accountants (CMA).
Candidates who wish to sit for the CMA exam must first meet the IMA eligibility requirements.
* The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
* Candidates must have at least two years of full time experience working in account management or related field.
The CMA exam consists of two parts. The first part is administered in a four hour time window. The candidate will be asked to answer questions related to financial planning, performance, and control during that time period. There are 100 multiple choice questions and 2 essay questions given during the part of the test.
The second part of the CMA exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions and 2 essay questions related to financial decision making processes. Candidates will have four hours to complete this section.
The CMA exam is only offered during select time windows. Candidates will need to file their application prior to any deadlines in order to sit for the exam date they desire. The CMA exam fee runs $350 for each part. If the candidate schedules both parts for the same testing window, then they pay only $300 per part. Students can receive a one-time 50% discount on the exam fee.
Since the CMA exam contains essay questions included in both parts of the test, candidates will need to wait for official grades to be mailed.
