The Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) Examination offered by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) qualifies successful candidates as Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS).
Candidates who wish to take the CPHIMS Exam must first meet eligibility requirements set by the HIMSS. The requirements include extensive experience in addition to education criteria. Be sure you qualify for at least one route; otherwise you may forfeit a portion of your registration fee.
* The candidate can have a bachelor’s degree with five years of association information and management experience. Three of those years must be in healthcare.
* The candidate can have a Master’s degree with three years of experience. Two of those years must be in healthcare.
The CPHIMS Exam consists of 115 multiple choice questions. The candidate will be graded on 100 of the questions, as 15 will be used to further develop test content. Candidates can expect to have questions from the following content areas on the exam.
* General healthcare related, including questions about healthcare environments and technology within those environments.
* Systems analysis and design, including testing criteria, implementation strategies, and privacy.
* The final section covers administration topics like leadership and management questions.
The CPHIMS exam fee runs $300 for HIMSS members or $375 for nonmembers. Candidates who wish to reschedule their exam will be able to do so for an additional $75. The CPHIMS Exam is administered at AMP computer-based testing centers.
