The Diagnostic Entrance Test (DET) is a placement test that seeks to evaluate an applicant’s knowledge in English, critical thinking, reading, and mathematics. The DET is developed and administered by the Arnett Development Corporation (ADC).
The DET is a 148-item test with an optional 60-item science test. It aims to identify the knowledge base of students before their entry to schools and universities of higher learning.
The DET comes in three forms:
* the DET Nursing version (commonly required by a number of training hospitals, as well)
* the DET College version
* the DET Science component
The testing fee depends on which DET exam an applicant will take. The testing fees are $15, $15, and $10, respectively.
The DET can be taken online without the need to download and install any computer software. One may also avail of the DET paper and pen exam. Exam results are usually available within 48 hours after the receipt of the exam by ADC. Testing dates and centers are available for viewing at the ADC website.
The exam results also include a personalized student summary of the strengths and weaknesses of the examinee. The school to which the applicant belongs will receive an in-depth and itemized summary of the knowledge base of their students per subject.
High school textbooks used all over the country are the references for the DET. There is likewise a list of recommended resources which may be requested for free at the ADC website. A number of websites also provide free online resources for those who are set to take the DET in the future.
