L.A.R.E. Study Guide

The Landscape Architect Registration Examination (L.A.R.E.) offered by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) grants successful test takers the qualifications of Landscape Architect.

The L.A.R.E. is a prestigious examination offered to only the best of the best. In order to sit for the exam, a candidate must meet the stringent guidelines setup by the CLARB. These guidelines can be reviewed on their website, as they offer several different pathways to take the exam.

One example:

the candidate should have a four or five year LAAB or LAAC accredited undergraduate degree in landscape architecture to sit for the L.A.R.E.
The L.A.R.E. determines whether a candidate has the necessary skills and knowledge needed for the landscape architectural services business.

The exam takes into account details of health, safety, and the welfare of the public as a whole. Candidates can expect to be tested on five different sections, with two additional photo question sections. The multiple choice question sections are administered at Prometric test centers located throughout the US. These portions of the exams are only available in March and September of each year. The graphic response questions are administered in June and December each year. Candidates must submit an 11” x 17” vignette.
