Professional Engineer Chemical Exam

For you to become a Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States, it is a prerequisite that you pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering exam. The exams on PE are offered in all areas of this discipline including the Principles and Practice of Engineering Chemical exam.

In order to become a PE, you must:

• Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
• Pass the PE Exam
• Meet the other eligibility criteria such as education and experience (may vary according to the state where you are located)

Becoming a PE allows you to register as such in your state. As a PE, you may perform duties including the stamping and signing of engineering calculations and drawings.

The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) created the PE Exam. The non-profit national organization structured the scoring system of the tests. The NCEES consists of surveying licensing and engineering boards that represent all the states in the country.

Characteristics of the PE exam:

• There are 2 long gatherings that last 4 hours each and are done within the day. This includes a lunch break.
• The exam contains 80 to 100 multiple choice questions.
• You can bring reference materials to be used during the exam period. Such references must be in a permanent binding like a book, spiral, three-ring, and the like. You cannot bring in notes and unfastened papers.
• You are not allowed to bring any of your own writing tools. You will be given mechanical pencils. You may use the test booklet itself if you have to solve anything.
