REM Study Guide Review

The Registered Environmental Manager (REM) exam is given by the National Registry of Environmental Professional (NREP) to environmental professionals who want to obtain certification.

When you pass the exam and get your certification, you will be able to show your competency in environmental issues. Having the certificate proves that you are eligible to direct people and train them. This also proves that you are an expert on the appropriate responses to emergences that concern the environment.

REM is the highest professional level of the NREP listing. To qualify for the examination, you must have broad knowledge about major environmental health and safety programs. This covers the management and transportation of hazardous materials, environmental assessment of real estates, and environmental auditing.

To prepare for the exam, you must study the following subjects thoroughly:
* Laws and regulations. This part will cover more than 16 of the most important environmental laws and the amendments. You must know the requirements for compliance and when those laws are deemed applicable.
* Basic math applications and important terms in geology, toxicology and general chemistry.
* Practices and standards of the profession.

Once you have been certified as a Registered Environmental Manager, you will be recognized as such by the following agencies and associations:
* National Park Service
* US Postal Service
* Resolution Trust Corporation
* US Air Force
* US Forest Service
* US Department of Energy
* Amtrak
* Other local government and state agencies
