RNEE Study Guide

The Registered Nursing Entrance Examination (RNEE) offered by many independent nursing school programs determines whether a candidate will perform well in their learning of nursing duties. The test acts as a comprehensive barometer of previous academic aptitude and relays that information to the admissions office of the nursing program. The ability to learn, use logic, retain skills, and test well can mean the difference between acceptance into a nursing program and denial.

The test typically is administered in school facilities. Students will be granted a set amount of time for each particular section of the RNEE and there are no prerequisite requirements other than those created by the administering school. Students can take the test in one sitting and will typically have the results within two weeks time. The test questions are asked on a computer screen in some cases and through paper and pencil means in others.

The RNEE covers everything from Math to Science. Candidates should be well versed in subjects common to high school and entry level college courses. The breakdown of the RNEE goes as follows:

* 50 questions will be on verbal reasoning
* 40 questions on basic math, including principles, algebra, and geometry
* 40 questions related to human biology
* 40 questions on chemistry and physics
* 45 questions on reading comprehension

The test does not have a writing section. The reading comprehension section will have text passages for the candidate to read and answer questions related to that text. The text level should not exceed 12th grade English level.
