The SAT Reasoning Test (SAT Exam) is a uniform and required exam for college admission in the United States. This used to be called the Scholastic Aptitude Test or the Scholastic Assessment Test.
The Educational Testing Service (ETS) first developed, published and scored the SAT exam. At present, ETS manages the tests, but SAT is owned, developed and published by the College Board, which is a non-profit association in the US.
In the US, SAT is offered during the following months:
* October
* November
* December
* January
* March or April
* May
* June
The SAT Reasoning Test takes about 4 hours. It is composed of 3 major sections:
1. Critical Reading. This used to be called the Verbal section. There are questions on sentence completion and reading comprehension. It is divided into 3 scored parts:
* 2 parts that last 25 minutes
* 1 part that lasts 20 minutes
2. Mathematics. This is also known as the Quantitative Section. This part is divided into 3 scored sections:
* A section that consists of 20 multiple-choice questions for 25 minutes
* A section that consists of 8 multiple-choice and 10 grid-in questions for 25 minutes
* A section that consists of 16 multiple-choice questions for 20 minutes
3. Writing. This is based on the writing subject test in the SAT II version.
* The first section is essay-writing for 25 minutes.
* This part also has multiple-choice questions on paragraph improvement, sentence improvement, and error identification.
